#180 – London

In the old days, people keep in touch with each other through letters. All those fancy coloured papers, “perfumed” papers, interesting stamps and waiting in anxiety for Mr. Postman to drop the mails in the mailbox. Those were the memories of my childhood (wonder where i kept my stamps collection albums *huhu*).

In order to get your mails delivered, you need to find those red post boxes. London, is also famous for its red Royal Mail post boxes. Not only it served as mail collector, it is also historically engraved with the initials of the current monarch during the time the particular post box was built.

i.e.
VR – Victoria
GR – George V
EVIIIR – Edward VIII
EIIR – Elizabeth II

Pretty interesting, rite :)

p/s: thanks kak lili…

Lat-Tali-Lat-Old Town

This would be my first entry on eatery places and what’s better than to start it with a light snack.

My colleagues and I were looking for places to eat and we spotted Old Town White Coffee cafe amongst the busy shops/offices area in Jalan Ipoh, KL. Without further ado and not to upset our trembling tummies, orders were made.

A must have (for me, that is) would be the freshly toasted brown bread with butter.

To complement my dish, I ordered Old Town enriched chocolate freezy. It is highly recommended for chocolate lovers. The freezy is definitely highly chocolaty. Yummy!

So, let’s Lat-Tali-Lat-Old Town! :)

#178 – M & M’s

M&M’s (named after the surnames of Forrest Mars, Sr., & Bruce Murrie of Hershey’s) are dragée-like “colorful button-shaped candies” produced by Mars, Incorporated. The candy shells, each of which has the letter “m” printed in lower case on one side, surround a variety of fillings, including milk chocolate, dark chocolate, crisped rice, mint chocolate, peanuts, almonds, orange chocolate, coconut, pretzel, wild cherry, cinnamon and peanut butter. M&M’s originated in the United States in 1941. They are produced in different colors, some of which have changed over the years.” – Wiki

Wohooo… sweet M&M’s. I love these colourful candy simply because:

#As a kid:
The catchy advertisement – “Melt in your mouth, Not in your hand”. I would sing along to the advert and insist my parents to get me a packet or two.

#As student:
With the endless workloads of studying, and in order to stay up at night revising or paying attention in class, I would quietly eat some to stay awake. (^_^)

#As a pregnant mom:
It works as a remedy to my pregnancy’s nausea. The act is simple – taste the sweet crunchy candy each time I feel like vomitting. At least, should I still vomit, it tastes sweet. ;p

#As a parent:
The colourful candies assist me in teaching my kids about colours. We would play the colour game. Name the colour candy, then you’ll get to eat it. It works for my kids. :-D

Ops… It’s time to go to the 7-E to get my M&M’s.

#177 – Scotland

Scottish men in kilt playing the Great Highland Bagpipe is the first thing that came to my visual upon receiving  this magneto. Cute :)

Dear Wiki said Scotland is derived from the Latin Scoti (the term applied to Gaels – people from what is now Scotland and Ireland), and the Dál Riata (originated from Ireland and migrated to western Scotland). Geographically, Scotland is situated in north-west Europe and comprises the northern one-third of the island of Great Britain.

Note: Thanks Erin for the magneto. Appreciate it so much. Don’t forget some souvenirs for me in your next tours. (^_^)

#176 – Cameron Highlands

SIL Rina and family went for a cold breezy family getaway at Cameron Highlands. Cameron Highlands is always associated with strawberry. The home of strawberry land. Yummy! :)

Speaking of strawberry, my daughter loves the pretty girl, Strawberry Shortcake (okay, okay, confession: mummy too ;p).

Don’t you think she is so adorable? Hands up, please (^_^).

#175 – Bubba Gump Shrimp Co

We are back! Back in Bubba Gump diner. (^_~)

Mr. Hubby seems to prefer spending quality time with shrimp, shrimp and shrimps for birthday celebration that it almost looks like becoming our yearly rituals. *little wish: hope not ;p*

Oh, that reminds me, he and the kids just love watching me took the ‘punishment’ given by the crew during the birthday song. *sigh, how embarrassing*

One thing for sure, he knows that I’ll always enjoy the food since I’m a shrimp lover. :)

Cast away your troubles… Go fishing ‘coz shrimp is the fruit of the sea.

#174 – Johor

Oh dear! This entry should come first before USS and Malacca magnetos. *slap on the forehead*

We stayed in Johor Bahru for a night before crossing over to Singapore. Therefore, we have utilized all the time we had in Johor. We stopped and shopped at the newly opened Johor Premium Outlet (JPO), Kulaijaya, and satisfied our tummies lavishly at the eatery of Singgah Selalu Restaurant, Danga Bay and enjoyed the serene view of the Strait of Johor (Tebrau Strait).

And, we watched a traditional dance – the Kuda Kepang dance. Not! *he*he*
Found an interesting article on Kuda Kepang that I believe is worth sharing. Enjoy reading peeps.

#168, #169, #170 – Malacca

In the 14th century during the Sultanate of Malacca era, Malacca was a bustling business port attracting traders from China, India, Sumatra and Siam. Gradually, each trader had assimilated their heritage and customs to the people of Malacca. One of the heritage that still live on till today is Malacca’s very own China Town. This oldest town is situated in the heart of historical city of Malacca – North: Jalan Kubu; South: Jalan Laksamana; East: Jalan Munshi Abdullah and Jalan Bendahara; West: Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock.

Amongst the places of interest include:
- Stadthuys
- St. Paul’s Hill
- A Famosa
- St. Francis Xavier’s Church
- Hang Jebat’s Mausoleum
- Jonker Street
- Kampung Kling Mosque
- Baba & Nyonya Heritage
- Cheng Hoon Teng Temple
- Hang Kasturi’s Mausoleum
- St. Peter’s Church
- Sam Poh Kong Temple
- Hang Li Po’s Well
- Malacca River Cruise Jetty

I have been to Malacca couple of times during my school years. My friends and I had visited the historical and tourist attraction places during our school trips. As for now, each trip to Malacca would be going to Jonker Street for its great riverfront view and shopping. *huhu*

Some places to shop are:
- Kee Ann Road Night Market
- Pasar Baru Bazar
- Orang Utan House
- Jonker Walk
- Little India
- Hard Rock Shop

My colleague had stayed at the Mahkota Hotel which is adjacent to Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan shopping and entertainment complex for a family holiday. It is a convenient place to stay and tour around the places at the heart of Malacca, especially China town. :)
